Extremely temperature resistant DuPont™ Nomex® insulation paper and pressboard warrant an excellent balance of physical and electrical properties.
Used as electrical insulation, Nomex® paper and pressboard can help extend the operational life of your equipment. Manufacturers of everything from transformers to generators, wind turbine systems to hybrid and electrical have been able to improve the integrity and performance of their own products through the use of Nomex® papers.
Nomex type 410 is widely used in electrical equipment applications where it offers high inherent dielectric strength, mechanical toughness, flexibility and resilience.
Nomex® paper type 410 is used in almost every known high temperature electrical sheet insulation application.
Flexible insulation | NMN – Long-term thermal stability insulation
Nomex® laminate type NmN is a triplex laminate constructed of calendered Nomex® paper bonded to polyester film with a proprietary high temperature adhesive system.
This laminate is designed not to delaminate or blister at high temperatures. The polyester film in this three-ply laminate contributes high dielectric strength, as well as good initial tear strength and tensile properties.
The calendered Nomex® paper provides long-term thermal stability as well as improved propagation tear strengths.
Flexible insulation | DMD
Dacron/Mylar/Dacron (DMD) is a high temperature laminated insulation material, composed of two layers of non woven polyester and one central layer of polyester (Mylar®).
This product has excellent dielectric, mechanical strength and heat resistance.
It can be used as liner insulation material for electric motors and electric apparatus transformers.
155ºc – class F is a typical application.

Mylar® A films are tough, general purpose films that are transparent in 48 to 92 gauges and translucent in heavier gauges. They have a rough surface to provide ease of handling, good adhesion, and processability. They are used for a broad range of industrial applications.
Flexible insulation | Kapton® Polymide Film
Kapton® polyimide film by DuPont™ is an electrical insulation material with outstanding thermal, mechanical, chemical and electrical properties.
Kapton® has been used successfully in field applications where the environmental temperatures are as low as -269°C and as high as 400°C.
It can be easily fabricated by a wide variety of techniques, including die cutting, punching and thermoforming.
Kapton® is available in 5 different thicknesses from 23 micron to 125 micron and in several different grades type HN being the most popular.
HN film can be laminated, metallized, punched, formed or adhesive coated.
Kapton® HN is highly recommended for applications requiring an all-polyimide film with an excellent balance of properties over a wide range of temperatures.
